Most research institutions and universities will undertake corporate-sponsored research. By sponsoring research at an institution, a company is able to work with academic staff and graduate students who have access to the institution's research equipment.
A corporate sponsor is often granted a first option to negotiate for a license on any new technology that is developed as part of their contract. At some institutions, corporate-sponsored research is managed by the technology transfer office. At others, it may be handled by the contracts and grants office.
If you are interested in sponsoring specific research at an institution, call their technology transfer office, which will direct you to the appropriate contact.
