Massachusetts is a hotbed of technology development and innovation, thanks to its large and diverse population of world-class research institutions and hospitals, the significant number of multinational corporate research centers headquartered here, and its culture of entrepreneurship fostered by the state government and many nonprofit organizations that seek to support new and growing companies.
There are many approaches to identifying technologies of interest to a given enterprise, from roaming the halls of our research institutions in search of the latest developments to participating in business plan competitions to networking with entrepreneurs and investors via industry organizations to contacting the Technology Transfer Office of a research institution known to be strong in the area of interest. The simplest approach is to utilize the Commonwealth's Technology Portal, also available via the Technology Portal link in the main navigation of this site.
You will find a list of major industry groups in the Find an Organization section of this site. Links to Massachusetts research institutions are given below.
Each Technology Transfer Office manages the licensing of its research institution's intellectual property somewhat differently. Harvard University and UCSD provide sample agreements for your reference.
